Some of them are funny, and I enjoy those.
Some of them warn me it's the end-times, and we're all doomed.
Some tell me to write my congressman. Yeah, like he cares what happens to me. Those politicians are living on easy street, voting themselves raises anytime they please.
I've seen Obama blamed for everything from the crime rate to the weather.
I've pretty much decided I'm done voting, unless it's for a local issue that needs my attention. I believe it's a wasted effort. There's never a true choice between candidates.
I'm sick of watching the price of fuel go ever upward, while the government prints play-money that is worth less every day. I don't see a darned thing I can do about it, and it's depressing. So I try not to think about it.
I'm SO done with politics; I plan to make the most of today, because there may not be a tomorrow. I try not to think about what the world will be like for my kids and grandkids, because I see no way to change the course of world events, and the future is not a pretty picture.
The Bible says, "Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God." Being "not anxious" is harder every day.
AMEN! I really have to work at the not being anxious part when I think of what the world might be like when my grandchildren grow up. Great post!
ReplyDeleteAs I wrote on my little "Getting to Know You" thingy I sent you, my greatest fear is being a burden to my kids in years to come. Our future is shaky at best, once we're 'old' old. It IS hard not to be anxious but I do try to go by "Be still and know that I am God." When I think of the countless tough times the Lord has gotten us thru so far, I'm sure He'll get us thru the rest. Besides, no one else knows the very hairs on my head. "His eye is on the sparrow, and I know He watches me." But I DO know what you mean about politics.
ReplyDeleteI always vote because I just have to make my opinion known. But you know politicians can't do it all...we the people in our deeds and actions will do more than they ever can. I try to stay away from the news and the trash that goes around. There is lots of good going on but we never hear about it. I guess we should always live as this might just be our last day. Living for today is a great thing to do. Tomorrow will come but today is what we have.
ReplyDeleteI try not to get upset about things then first thing you know there I am worrying about things I have no control over. Helen
