Browser musical chairs

I woke up around 4 A.M. this morning. Normally I refuse to get up so early, but for some reason I decided to start my day at that ridiculous hour. Since I had such a head start on the morning, I figured it was a good time to try and figure out some of my browser problems.

I’ve used Mozilla Firefox as my browser for years now; I love the “tabbed browser” and it’s never given me problems until the most recent update. Since then, after surfing here and there for awhile, Firefox will suddenly add a new tab I didn’t request, and at that point I can no longer click out of any single tab. I have to click out of Firefox completely to get rid of the tabs. I googled for answers, tried one or two of the suggestions I found, and found myself no better off than before.

So I uninstalled, then reinstalled. No dice; I still had the problem.

I’ve been testing Google Chrome for awhile. The only problem presented to me there was that the font size was too small; so since I wasn’t having any luck with Firefox, I decided to see what I could find out about changing the font size on Chrome. Google didn’t help me out much, but then I remembered a computer-help site set up by some people who frequent a message board in which I used to take part.

I found my answer, and now I don’t have to strain my eyes when I’m using the Chrome browser.

Which reminded me to send that computer help site a small donation VIA Paypal. I think I’ll just send a donation every time I find the answers to my questions on that board. I never log in to ask questions, although I am a member. I’ve been burned once too often by message board groups. But I do go there looking for help, and quite often somebody in the group has had the same trouble as me. Today was one of those times.

I realize I’ll be using Safari as my browser once I get my Mac Mini. Until then, I’ll be surfing VIA Google Chrome.

  1. You know, I have had big issues with Mozilla, since that new update, such as not having a web address bar. I am testing Opera right now and it is nice. But I understand about the extra tab thing that has been happening to me too!

  2. What new update? No web address bar? Could Tawnya maybe have it unchecked to show? I do that sometimes. I will uncheck the web navigation bar. What version of Firefox are you using?

  3. While the vast majority of my browsing is done on Safari, I have Firefox installed and occasionally use it too.

  4. A lot of my kids use Modzilla and Foxfire but I prefer Internet Explorer yet. I really have got used to it and it works. I hate to change around after using something for so long. If I do have problems I'll have to check out others.

  5. Chrome has a Mac version, and so does Firefox, so you'll still have options.

  6. You can also have Safari for Windows if you so desire:
