I'm learning about divorce

Last year I rode to Wisconsin with Cliff's sister so she could finalize her divorce. At least we thought we were finalizing it.
Now this has nothing to do with me, mind you. I'm not taking sides, and I don't know diddly-squat about divorce (thank God).
But let me tell you, at this point I have no use for lawyers.
So Rena's heading back to Wisconsin again. This time she's flying, and it's her first time ever to fly. Hey, it's cheaper than spending all that time on the road and feeding me on the way, right?
She's really nervous, and somewhat scared about flying.
If you can remember your first time to board an airplane, maybe you can relate to that fear.
Rena could use any prayers and positive thoughts you might send her way.
Hey, you youngsters? Please make sure you know what you're doing before you get married.
There's nothing cold as ashes, after the fire is gone.

  1. I have only been on a plane once, and it was as a kid. I remember my ears hurting so bad from the pressure when we took off. NO one prepared me. Tell her to chew gum to pop her ears so it won't hurt! I don't know if it would still happen, who knows what technology there is now, that was 33 years ago. Maybe they got it all figured out inside the plane so it doesnt happen, who knows. I am still taking gum to pop my ears if I ever go on a plane again. ;)

  3. I've never been divorced either and what I know about it is from others. I'd never want to go through that ordeal. It is the worse kind of drama there is. And if there are kids involved it is even worse. I'll be praying.

    Divorce is horrible.

It's nasty, and ugly and vicious.

It turns two perfectly pleasant people into evil, revengeful people.

And that is an amicable divorce. Don't even get me started on the other.

Please tell Cliff's sister I am so, so sorry. There are several resources - First Wives World (an online networking community I enjoyed) also the book Crazy Time -HIGHLY recommend it.

I've blogged a little about my divorce, but she could also e-mail me if she wants any more support.

  5. Oh I know EXACTLY how Rena feels. I was once afraid to fly. I KNEW something would happen to the plane I was on. I still am not totally comfortable with it but I have come to realize how much safer statistically than being in a car. And that is comforting. I also spend time praying while in the air and that is comforting. And I ask God to show me his beautiful handiwork and I'm left awestruck by what it looks like in the sky looking down. So hopefully Rena will enjoy this. I'm praying she gets an awesome person to sit next to b/c that helps. I always say at take off when that plane is taking off "well nothing I can do about it now but sit here" - that always kinda makes me chuckle. Like would I try to jump out or go tell the pilot to go back that I'm scared? lol
