Just a few more

Me, age 16, it says on the back; I think I might have been younger.

No wonder I didn't date back then.

My daughter, probably age 16.
My son, displaying his temper.

My mom's parents are in this picture, but both their faces are blurry (Grandma has a red "X", Grandpa has a black "X"). Picture was taken around 1899.

Can you imagine all those kids packed into that tiny schoolhouse?

My paternal grandpa as I remember him.

  1. I always like to look at old pictures even if I don't know who they are. Like the cars behind your grandpa too.

  2. Old pictures bring so much memories... everything comes alive like it was just yesterday in our mind's eye.

You are so fortunate to have all these old photos with you. I wish we were a little richer back then so that we could at least own a camera to take pictures of ourselves and how we lived for posterity.

Now they are only in my mind and are fading fast... blurry every time I think about it.

  3. I love it when you show this kind of stuff. I think you looked great at 16. You kind of look like that Happy Days chick who played Joanie Cunningham. Too cute!

  4. I, too, love old photos; here are people and places frozen in time ... just as they were at that moment! Maybe the people have aged/died ... the places re-built ... but, there they are ... in never-ending ... never-aging reality.

  5. Far Side of Fifty has a "Wistful Wednesday" where she posts old photo's and tells their stories. Your stash of photo's would fit nicely! You know how all those kids fit in that small school house? Because they were well behaved! hahah! Remember the old days where you misbehaved you got your "ears boxed' ha. Sweet pictures.

  6. Any idea if that old schoolhouse is still standing?

  7. Remo, I'm sure that schoolhouse is NOT standing. It was gone long before my time.

  8. It always breaks my heart when I see old photos in thrift stores. It's like looking at orphans or un-adopted pets in the petstore window.
