My first tomato!

The poor little thing is the size of a pea,
But it's holding the promise of good things for me.

This little guy will never be huge; it's a grape tomato. I went out searching my garden because I read over at Dad's Tomato Garden that his first tomato made its appearance. Of course Dad's in Tennessee, so his crop is bound to be ahead of mine.

Cliff's brother is coming this morning with a trailer large enough to haul the big barn ornament Oliver tractor we're buying. I think I'll ride along; I might get a picture or two.

As far as I know, this is the last item on Cliff's bucket list. He now owns everything he wanted when he was younger but couldn't afford. I'm sure he'll think of something else, though, once the new wears off this thirty-some-year-old giant of a tractor.

  1. Congrats on your tomato, & also to CLiff on his new treasure. I can't wait to see it at it's new home!

  2. You guys are too young to have your bucket list all checked off. Last item should be: make another bucket list!

  3. Theres nothing like picking a grape tomato right off the vine and popping it into your mouth on a hot summer day. :)

  6. I couldn't get on to comment again earlier but here I am now that it's cooperating once again, haha! All I was going to say was..."And here's hoping there are many more to come!" There is nothing in this world better than a sun-ripened tomato warm off the vine...bliss!

  9. I'm with Midlife Mom on this one. Still threats of frost for a few more days so tomatoes are safely in the cold frame (bloody cold spring this year).
But my mouth is already watering thinking about eating them right off the plant. Mmmmmmmm
