Daily Steals

I blame the Oregon Guy for getting me hooked on Daily Steals. It's one of the first sites I check when I come to the computer in the morning.
So far, although I've seen some excellent buys, they haven't offered anything I've needed.
That didn't stop me from buying a couple of things, though.
Both things I've bought were free. I've always had a problem resisting freebies, even when there's a $5.99 shipping fee, which I suppose makes the items "not free".
I didn't need these things; I just wanted to play with them.

This is my favorite toy.
I didn't tell Cliff about my purchase; I figured I'd just wait until it arrived, and show him, rather than tell him. So my package came, I checked it out, and I was delighted with it; still, I was afraid Cliff might not share my enthusiasm, so I waited for just the right time to amaze him with my shopping savvy.

Isn't this the cutest little pair of scissors you ever saw in your life? Now I'll admit, they'd be awkward to use; but who knows, there just might be a time when this would be a lifesaver... or not.

OK, but you know there are times when you need a flashlight and there's none available. How about this? You have to admit this could come in handy.

How many times have you been away from home and said to yourself, "I could really use a tiny little saw right now"?
As it happens, Cliff got a kick out of my "free" thingie; I guess he figured $5.99 wasn't so much to pay for a few laughs.
I do have this amazing item tucked away in my purse, because you just never know when it might be useful... if only I can remember that I have it with me, when the time comes.

  2. I have a similar thing on my key chain. I use my scissors often. They are so sharp they'll cut a hang nail or even clip a plastic stay from a toy or something the Grands buy and just can't wait to get home to open it. I also use them for clipping strings off my clothes. Mine has a metal tooth pick (heaven only knows why on that one - wouldn't dare use those ha!) & a pair of tweezers on the end.

  3. I had a similar gadget, but mine didn't have a flashlight. Forgot it was in the computer case, tried to board a plane, and they made me throw it away.

    Dang terrorists.

Now, I have another one, but it's cheap and junky and nothing like my original.

  4. You can never tell it might come in use some day. Wondering if you ordered the free notebook light that was on today? Helen

  5. No Helen, Cliff is the one who uses the laptop; and he's always near a light, so he can see the keyboard. Now if I used the laptop myself, I'd go for that item because it would be handy to have sometimes. I think our next laptop will be a Macbook, and the keyboard is lit on them anyhow.

  6. Your keyboard is lit? Now, that's awesome! :)

  7. No, Tango, my lowly Mac Mini uses a normal keyboard. It's the Macbooks that have a lit keyboard. I think that's right... now I guess I had better check!

  8. Donna....oh I see.

I keep on forgetting about the Daily Steal so I put a banner on my side bar. Funny...now I'll have to look up and see how to make the banner go where I want it to go. It insists on being on top.

  9. Donna, I've ordered several things so far and I have yet to be disappointed. That free light they have today can come in handy if you have a black keyboard. I guess you don't want me to tell you about Woot.com

  10. Guy, I checked out Woot; I'm sure those are good buys, but I like stuff under $10. We just received something today I ordered for Cliff, and I do believe he likes it! $9.99 plus shipping.
