Hot dog!

Some time back,
the Kansas City Russian Jew did an entry on his blog extolling the virtues of a particular hot dog. He got it over in Northtown, in the vicinity of my old high school alma mater; we don't get over there very often. But the seed was planted in my mind, and I knew eventually I'd be trying that hot dog.
I have a minor medical procedure scheduled for next week; today I had an appointment with my doctor, who is in the Northland. I knew this would be a good time to trick Cliff into treating me to the delights of Hot Dog Haven because, after all, we'd be so close to it.
My appointment was for 10 o'clock, but we got there early because we'd allowed plenty of time, what with the fog and glazed-over roads. So I was done with the doctor and out the door by ten. I had Hot Dog Haven programmed into our GPS (otherwise known as Joanie). I broke the news to Cliff that I wanted a hot dog.
He didn't even put up a fight.
I had my doubts whether a hot dog place would be open at 10 A.M., but it was; it had just opened ten minutes before our arrival.
We both had the Reuben because who wouldn't, after seeing what Meesha had to say about it. The proprietor said his most popular item is the Chicago hot dog, so we'll try that next time I visit the doctor.
Yes Meesha, I liked the hot dog. Cliff doesn't really care much for hot dogs in general, but he'll take me back when we're in the vicinity, just because he's nice like that.

  1. We have a place near where I work called Hot Dog Heaven. They have good ones there too. I like hot dogs just about any way you fix them but I've never had a Rueben one. I'll have to see if our place has them.

  2. I have yet to find a hot dog place her in San Antonio....but I remember the one in Florida - Mel's Hot Dogs. Gahh....the deliciousness. I'm hard to impress, 'cause I love my Nathan's, too.

  3. I very glad you liked it. When I write stuff like that, I am always afraid someone will be disappointed. I work 5 minutes from there and if you are in the area between 11 and 2 I usually can get away for 30 minutes.

  4. I am now just drooling for a good hotdog! The way I like them is cooked on the grill sliced open so they are really well done with onions cooked in butter and the roll toasted in a fry pan. Oh my, I'd give my one gold tooth for one of those right now!!

  7. Meesha, you'd be hard-pressed to find any food I don't like.

Tango, I hope you read the comments on Meesha's entry about the Reuben. They're great.
