A nephew said to be sure and see it in 3D. He also mentioned that his extremely active seven-year-old son sat quietly through the entire thing.
Cliff and I don't go to movie theaters much, because if there are no captions, he doesn't know what's going on; he's that nearly deaf.
So I imagine we'll see it on our television when it comes out on DVD or pay-per-view and hope it's good without being in 3D.
Meanwhile, I keep wondering how a movie could be that universally loved; can anything be THAT good?
i'd love to see it, as i like special effects, & those look fab! however, i'll have to wait for dvd to come out.

It's basically Pocahontas/Dances with Wolves/Fern Gully but with great graphics. Nothing wrong with that, I loved all those movies too ;)
ReplyDeleteThe 3D is the cool thing. 3D used to be gimmicky with things popping out of the screen at you, but the newer 3D stuff, including this movie, is more about immersing you in the movie. The special effects are superb (it's Cameron, so of course they were!). I can't wait till it comes out on DVD because I want to pay more attention to the stuff in the background... those things you miss when you are watching the story. There was a lot of attention paid to the forest and animals...
Yeah, if you can't tell, I liked it. LOL! When G and I saw it last Tuesday there were people our age, some older couples, some teenagers and even some parents there with younger kids, and everyone seemed to enjoy it! Maybe it will be like Coraline and come out on the DVD with both the 2D and 3D versions on it...

I always wait for the DVD since I can't manage sitting still in the theater for that long without my back acting up.

I am like Cliff...hard of hearing...and movie theatres don't do well for me...and from what I see on the tv ads...the movie doesn't turn me on alot..but I am sure the grands and my dau will enjoy it fully...and I sometimes think all the hype is a bunch of hogwash...!!! LOL...and that chicken broth looks yummy...but alas I only use the canned or boxed version...works for me...and like you..my mom would be turning in her grave also about throwing away all that delicious (if not so good looking) chicken fat....LOLOL...hugs from ora in ky
ReplyDeleteAstaryth nailed it. Rehashed story from a dozen other movies, but stunning visuals. I was not impressed with the story or acting much at all, but it was worth the time/money to "see" it anyway. And having seen the 3d version, I don't think I'd want to see it any other way.
ReplyDeleteI saw the George Clooney (my boyfriend) movie and loved it. I don't have any desire to see Avitar. I am, however, watching movies on ON DEMAND on my television. I enjoy that more.
