Email information: sometimes true, sometimes false

Before you read this information, which comes from an email I received, just remember it is not 100% accurate.  I've noticed lately that a lot of emails full of lies will have the statement, "This is Snopes approved".  When you see that statement, don't just take their word for it; go check it out on snopes.com yourself.  I don't understand why anyone would try to convince people that something this serious is true when it isn't, or why anyone mixes false information with the truth.
This particular bit is about 90% truth, 10% lies.  The biggest falsehood is the part that says, "Do not lie down."
It is true that you would do well to take an aspirin if you think you're having a heart attack, preferably chewing it.  But the Bayer Quick Release aspirins are NOT appropriate.

Snopes says this is a mixture of true and false information:  You'll find what they have to say about it HERE.  Notice at the bottom of the page of information there are links to take you to the FDA website, where you can find the proper information.
Cliff has only been using email for a year or so, and he's still a bit gullible.  I keep telling him you have to check this stuff out before swallowing it hook, line, and sinker.

New Aspirin---serious stuff
A Must read
This is good info. We did not know that you should not lie down while waiting for the EMT

Heart attack info NEW ASPIRIN/ Serious stuff, no joke!!

Just a reminder to all: purchase a box, keep one in your car, pocketbook, wallet, bedside, etc.

IMPORTANT READ......

Something that we can do to help ourselves.  Nice to know.

Bayer is making crystal aspirin to dissolve under the tongue. They work much faster than the tablets.

Why keep aspirin by your bedside?

About Heart Attacks

There are other symptoms of an heart attack besides the pain on the left arm.
One must also be aware of an intense pain on the chin, as well as nauseaand lots of sweating, however these symptoms may also occur less frequently.
Note:
There may be NO pain in the chest during a heart attack..  The majority of people (about 60%) who  had a heart attack during their sleep, did not wake up.  However, if it occurs, the chest pain may wake you up from your deep sleep.

If that happens, immediately dissolve
two aspirins in your mouth and swallow them with a bit of water.
Afterwards
:

CALL 911

say "heart attack!"
say that you have taken 2 aspirins..

phone a neighbor or a family member who lives very close by

take a seat on a chair or sofa near the front door, and wait for their arrival and...

DO NOT lie down

Cardiologist has stated that, if each person, after receiving this e-mail, sends it to 10 people, probably one life can be saved!

I have already shared the information- - What about you?

Do

  1. I did hear about aspirin and heart attacks on the news. They said about the same about taking one if you think you're having a heart attack. But didn't say anything about not laying down. I love that SNOPES. They check out everything. I use it often.

One good email to "help" with heart attack prevention would be:
Stop taking your kids out for fast food. You are creating a lifetime habit.
