Can it be true?

Cliff heard somewhere that a rich Texan bought the Grand Ole Opry, and is moving it to Fort Worth, Texas.

It seems to me that if it's true, it'll be the death of Nashville AND of the Grand Ole Opry. Nashville is centrally located; Fort Worth may as well be Mexico, if you live in Missouri. (Frankye, nothing against you or Texas, I swear!)

I've Googled my heart out on this subject and have only found a link to a message board that discusses it.

Anybody know anything about this?

How on earth can anyone think about moving the "Mother Church of Country Music"?

  1. Haven't heard that. Never know, but it seems kinda stupid after all these years.

  2. I seriously doubt it. Texas for years has been trying to replace Nashville. Ain't gonna happen!

  3. I can't believe that! I hope it's not true! Since our family has a vacation condo just outside of Nashville I go there a lot! It's a great place to see a lot of country stars at one time for a reasonable price! I can't imagine that happening, considering the history and all the attractions nearby....The Opry Mills Mall, The Opryland Hotel, etc. Heaven forbid!! I love Nashville!! Can't wait to hear more about this!

  4. That would be terrible to move the Grand Ol Opry ... just my opinion... I think it should stay with Nashville.
