Where to ride

We awoke in Branson Saturday morning to such fog, we didn't want to ride. We ate breakfast, took our walk, and showered.

Around 10 A.M. we felt it would be safe to leave. It looked as though we were going to have a perfect day. The Ozark region covers a huge area of south Missouri and Arkansas, and the autumn leaves were strutting their stuff. All we had to do was decide where to ride.

Cliff had originally decided on staying in Branson because I love the country music there; he figured we'd take in a couple of shows in the afternoon and evening, and ride during the day.

"Where shall we ride?" he asked.

"What if we go down into Arkansas?"

"Fine with me."

We had only reserved one night at the motel. Motels are hurting for business right now, so Cliff figured we should pack up everything into the trailer. This would give us more flexibility if we changed plans and decided to go somewhere else the next night. If we returned to Branson, we'd choose the same motel, because we liked it.

Away we went south, down 65 highway. Shortly after we crossed the state line, we saw an Arkansas visitor's center and pulled in to see if we could find some good maps of motorcycle roads. A very helpful lady had exactly the pamphlet we needed, and we were on our way to one of the most picturesque rides of our lives.

Just what the doctor ordered.

This is the run we chose: "The Moonshine Run". (Click on pictures to make them large enough to read.)

More pictures in the next entry.

  3. You are sure a couple of free spirits. I love the idea of just hoping on the motorcycle and following your nose. Can't wait for the pictures.
