I had three packages to mail today. I told the lady at the post office I wanted to send them the cheapest way possible.
$23 to send the three packages, and no, they were not that big or heavy. Their contents weren't even worth as much as the cost of the postage!
Wow.
I know that feeling for sure. With so many of my family out of town, I'm always sending little things off to them and the cost is just over the hill. I've decided to send $$ from now on they can go shopping for themselves. I hate to do that as it so much fun shopping for the grand kids but...
ReplyDeleteIt's silly to waste the money.
Postage could easily buy another gift or two.

I can't get over what shipping costs lately. My parents send us stuff and it's outrageous.
ReplyDeleteWhew! It sure cost to mail now days! Hugs, Grams
ReplyDeleteYes I so know. When in the states this summer I mailed 9 boxes total. 3 from Michigan and that cost aprox $60.00 and 6 boxes cost me $240.00 (yes TWO HUNDRED and FORTY). One box alone was 80 because it was about a half inch if that bigger than the others which were all closting around 24.00 they were all large boxes at least.
ReplyDeleteWhen in the states I mailed Chad 2 boxes and they were the ones that are at a set rate, just has to be under 20 lbs, imo that's the best way to go if you can get everything in those sizes.
When living in the states I normally would mail through Fed Ex (I found them to be the cheapest 3 yrs ago). The Post Office definately rips you off.
wow!! I haven't mailed anything in awhile but with Christmas coming up, perhaps I'll resort to gift cards rather than sending gifts
