Ouch!

Cliff had some coupons for Harbor Freight that he wanted to use this morning (don't go there... but that's another entry), so Sadie and I went on our walk before he got up. In good weather, I walk barefoot, because outside on uneven ground, on the grass, is about the only place I can go barefoot these days without intense pain. And I do love to go barefoot.

I was only ten minutes into my walk when I felt an intense burn on the outside of my right foot and knew I'd been stung. I stopped and picked up my foot to investigate and saw the yellow jacket (or hornet... something black-and-yellow) was still attached. I scraped him off on the grass and then mentally slapped myself because I had my camera and didn't use it. What a great picture that would have been for my blog!

There was quite a burn for awhile, but by the time I finished my walk it wasn't so bad. I put on my shoes and we were off shopping.

Honestly, I forgot all about the sting. I noticed a nagging pain in my right foot while I was walking through the store, but I thought my new sneakers just needed more breaking in.

It was when I got home and removed my shoes that I realized my foot was an angry red, and swollen almost to my ankle. I'd take a picture, but my feet are hideous and I'd rather not have the world see them.

So now I can barely walk without groaning (I know, Blue; I deserve it). I'm putting a bag of ice on the offending foot. One thing about it, I'm not thinking about my knees hurting right now!

try some adolph's meat tenderizer mixed with water to make a paste, rub it on. It works like a charm on ant bites, bee stings etc. stops the itching and pain almost instantaniously.

  4. OUCH! Sorry to hear that you got stung! I have only been stung once and I'll never forget it. The red hot poker feeling, the stinging, the tingling all over and I got short of breath-I'm not sure if I panicked or if I'm allergic. Needless to say whenever I see a yellow jacket I RUN the other way!

I hope you are feeling better :)
