Crossed off my bucket list: Tattoo!

Last Saturday I made an appointment at Bootlegger Tattoo in nearby Odessa.  My oldest grandson (who, by the way, was dead-set against Grandma getting a tattoo) told me about the place, saying that he had lots of friends who went there and none of them were unhappy with their work.

I stole this off the Bootlegger website
Logan was the artist who did the work.  When I told him my age and that it was my first ever tattoo, I think he was a little apprehensive.  "This is pretty extensive for a first tattoo," he said.
I didn't give him any trouble, though.  Cliff watched the whole procedure, and he would be the first to tell you that the guy really is an artist.
Cliff wasn't crazy about me doing this, but he said, "I know when you get something in your head, nobody is going to stop you."
Since he was so nice about it, I let him choose where the tattoo would be placed on my body.

This is how it started.

Cliff thought it looked good enough like this.  Of course, it was barely started at this point.  The fill-in was what took time.

This was taken over halfway through the procedure.

And this is near the end.

After it's healed and the red is gone, I will show you a picture of the completed masterpiece.

Did it hurt?  It was more of a burning sensation, but after the first five minutes or so, I got used to it and conversed with Cliff and Logan as the work progressed.  I will admit that the last half-hour, I was really wanting it to be done.

P.S.  Cliff was, of course, the photographer.  What a great guy!  No wonder I have his name on my shoulder.

  4. I didn't know Dave Ramsey had a "body decoration" envelope

  5. Meesha, this didn't come out of the envelope. Remember the walnut trees we sold? And we divided the funds in half? That's where my tattoo money came from. Dave Ramsey doesn't know about the walnut timber.

  6. And I should add, it only cost $75.

  8. Wow - beautiful art! You must really like that Cliff guy, LOL. And $75? That is really a good price. Around here, for $75 you get a couple daisies or hearts that could hide under a dime.

  10. You were a brave soul. What a beautiful work of BODY ART. It is spectacular. LOVE it. I was going to get one for the last eight years, on my birthday... but each time I chickened out. You have inspired me. ENJOY it. Cliff was a GREAT photographer.

  11. Boy you weren't just kidding around. The price wasn't bad. Are you going to wear sundresses to show it off?

  12. Wow! I'm impressed! So how long did it take for them to do that?
George and I were kidding around the other day as to what we would get if we got tattoos. He decided on a "shrimp" (lol) and I decided on a Tugie.

  13. Glad you were able to cross off another item on your bucket list. And I must admit that Rachel's mom IS cooler than my mom. But since my mom has been gone for almost 26 years, I think I can live with that thought. I am left wondering though, why Pegasus?

  14. Danil, I did an entry explaining why I chose the pegasus (not just THE pegasus, but the MOBILE pegasus. It's all wrapped up with my husband, his baby sister, and my two kids.

  16. $75??

I'll admit I don't know much about tatoos, but the young people around me assure me that what you have would've went for around $200 in our neck of the woods.

I don't know about the actual getting of the tatoo, but I'm all about a bargain.

    Nicely done. =)
