Birds

I think that must be a female cardinal on the left, dining peacefully with a couple of goldfinches.

The goldfinches made themselves scarce for a couple of months, but they're back in full force now, along with the house finches.

The cardinals and woodpeckers only show up a couple of times daily. There are still some juncos around, but thank goodness not as many as there were.

There are some ugly, ungainly birds that seem to hang out in a flock; one of them occasionally visits the feeder, and when he shows up, the other birds leave. I've been trying for days to get a picture so my readers could perhaps tell me what sort of bird it is; I'll keep trying. These birds are easily twice the size of the finches.

You might have noticed I deleted a couple of recent entries. I didn't like the searches that were leading people here. I can see now I should have kept my fingers off the keyboard and kept my nose out of something that wasn't my business. Don't get me wrong, I haven't received any flak for the entries.

Sometimes when I find something that interests me, I refer my readers to it thinking they might also be interested. This time, I should not have done so.

  2. Hopefully the return of the goldfinches means that Spring is on it's way. We'll find out what the ground hog has to say tomorrow.

  3. Sorry you had to delete anything. It saddens me that you had to that.

  4. Tango, I didn't have to delete them. But people were googling stuff like "PW vs Rechelle" or Pioneer woman rechelle", trying to get the dirt. I would probably do the same thing, but I just didn't want that kind of search leading them to my blog.

  5. Keep trying on the birds -- could they be young starlings? I think your blog will be better for not having the stuff on it about whatever squabble is going on elsewhere. You might re-think going to Montana. You could have a wonderful leisurely trip...

  6. I saw a goldfinch here last week. I need to put a feeder out for them again. That is a cardinal eating with the goldfinches. Your bigger bird that runs others off is probably in the blackbird family. The birds here won't eat with them.

  7. I have mostly chickadees, mourning doves, woodpeckers, finches and bluejays. The finches have just started coming back but they have a long way to go before spring!

Love that song with Marie Osmond. Played it twice.
