Morning walk on my birthday

When we went for our (already hot) morning walk, the horses were out grazing.  They spend most of their time standing in the big lot by the house where they are in full sunlight (on a 100 degree day) and have nothing to graze but short weeds.  I don't understand why, it's just the way of horses.  Notice the smudge in the sky that looks sort of like a fingerprint?  It's something on the inside of my camera that has developed on my last two Canons.  I have a new camera ordered, and it isn't a Canon.  Fool me once, shame on you.  Fool me twice, shame on me.

Just before I took this, we watched Tude paw at the weeds with his hoof, uproot a plant, and eat it.  Why do they do what they do?

Three of the cows (where is Babe?) were grazing alfalfa, which has bloomed now.  Ordinarily it is cut before it blooms, but Cliff was afraid cutting it in this drought would kill it.

Here's the missing cow.  Fortunately we don't have to worry that the little pond has dried up, because we have in-ground waterers.

You can see there has been a lot of traffic to the waterer.  There's a place to drink on the other side, as well.

The cows and horses get cool, clean well water, just like we drink.  Those slats are to keep small animals from falling in, drowning, and fouling the water.

My garden gifted me with these huge tomatoes for my birthday.
