Cliff's other new projects

I don't know about you, but I sometimes wonder how Cliff finds time to go to work, he has so many projects. Well actually, sometimes he doesn't. He played hooky yesterday.

This is a round pen he's building, for training horses. I'm not real confident that I'll know how to make Libby perform properly in it, but Adam and Jessica are elated about this addition! You'd have thought they'd won the lottery when they saw what Cliff was doing. Adam is going to contribute the sand that is needed, for proper footing for the horses.

This trailer belongs to a friend. Cliff is going to see if our car can comfortably pull it with two big motorcycles on board. If so, he'll do a little customizing, and when we go to Colorado this summer with Cliff's sister and her husband, we'll take our Honda and their Harley. Once we arrive at our destination, we'll park the car and ride the motorcycles.

  1. I swear by a round pen.

Training and working a horse, young or old, broke or not, in a round pen makes the world of difference.

I have panels I use now. Hubby has not built my new pen at our new house after our move last July. We have all the pipe and his welder, I am still waiting....

    (taps foot impatiently)

These days, Id be lost if I was starting a youngster without the use of a round pen!

    I think you'll love yours.

  3. I have never used a round pen before but would like to try it. I have plenty of room for one, would you think it would be good for working with my little grandkids on their ponies? I do have a large outdoor arena that I use but the ponies can cut right across it with the little ones riding. I get LOTS of exercise when I am walking along with them, especially at a trot!

  4. Midlife mom, I have so little horse-training knowledge, I am a poor one to ask whether something would work with your ponies. I tried using a lunge-line with my filly and failed miserably; I don't understand how to show her what I want.

  5. We just kept working with Belle. She learned as we learned. LOL after running into a fence a few times she learned a back tug on the reins meant whoa!

  6. What parts of Colorado are you visiting? It is a gorgeous state, if I say so myself, lol.
