Sunny days

According to weather.com, the next ten days are filled with sunshine, with just a couple of "partly cloudys" thrown in.  Lots of highs near fifty degrees, no precipitation in sight.  So far I don't see it getting warm enough for a wintertime motorcycle ride, but it could happen.  A lot of bikers try to sneak in a ride on New Year's Day, just to get the year started off right.  I think we'll pass.
After the past two winters, I'm fine with no snow.  It's pretty, but we've had our share.  An open winter would be nice.
We've had loved ones in and out of the house for the past two days, snacking and chatting.  Unexpected presents have shown up.  People we care about are keeping their heads above water, which is sometimes hard to do at this time of year.  I'd say it's been a good holiday season for the family.  A good year, in fact.
Our daughter has established a new family tradition the past couple of years, dispensing with the big Christmas dinner of the old days.  I have to say I like the change:  she and her family have sort of an open house all day, with seasonal snacks and treats contributed by anybody who wants to bring something, although a contribution isn't required.  It's low-key and informal and a perfect way to finish up with Christmas.  It fits our family just fine.

I wish each of you, my readers, a lovely Christmas day that suits your style.

Donna, Merry Christmas to you, Cliff and your family. I like your daughter's new tradition.

Thta's exactly how we like our Christmasses too -- low key, relaxed and completely enjoyed by all.

Our weather is not quite as nice as yours is there. It would be nice to see the sun a little more here. Enjoy your new tradition! It sounds like you will have a Merry Christmas for sure!

Our temps are about the same with more clouds, although lots of blue also. Weird weather for this time of year. We've gone to the casual buffet for Christmas Day. My mom still does a big meal on Christmas Eve. (lasagne, salmon, beef, salad, vegetables, pies, etc.)

I knew it! You sent all the snow to West Texas just so I had to shovel my driveway!
Merry Christmas, anyway!

Your daughter's celebration sounds perfect. Our kids were so anxious to get to their new toys they didn't care too much about dinner. And us grown ups? I can't speak for everyone, but I wouldn't be too upset about not having to cook a full meal, LOL! Merry Christmas!

I like the idea of that tradition. We eat snacks all day anyway and never have much room for the dinner.

Merry Christmas. Your forcast looks exactly like yours excepting you would need to remove about 8 degrees from each number because we're further north, but still great weather.
The open house of your daugthers would work well with me too though we couldn't have had a nicer day. We had all three of our kids' families here. Best wishes for the New Year.

Sounds like a GREAT day. A perfect family gathering on Christmas. Weather here is in the 40's. Must admit I like it around here without the snow. Hope you get your New Years ride in. Take care.

It's hard to change a family tradition sometimes in some families. I wrestled with the fact that there would be no formal dinner yesterday at all. Only snacking. After 48 years, the first time there was no special meal with the family. Of course it's just because that is the way we have always done it regardless of who I was with so it seemed like I was "letting someone down" - like family down that has gone before. Hard to explain but George and Katy and I had a prime rib dinner Christmas Eve and then we had a brunch at Mom's earlier. But it was just odd not having a meal on Christmas day itself. Well there were so many snacks at George's parents yesterday it ended up like a meal. No one went hungry. lol So I'm good with doing that again. But the meal was special in years past. Glad you all had a good time and could change the tradition with no problem.

Shoot. We might get an inch of snow tonight. It'll be gone by tomorrow afternoon but I'll have to drive home in it this evening. Pfui.
