How I met my husband

I love to hear stories of how someone met his/her spouse. Fernan has been doing lots of entries telling just that. I've learned that Carlene grew up with the man she ended up marrying.

Cliff's sister Rena, who now lives in our old house, is the culprit who hooked me up with with Cliff. I worked with her at National Bellas Hess in North Kansas City; my apartment was a mere three blocks up the street from the place, and Rena ended up crashing there a few times.
At work, she sometimes talked about her two eligible brothers, although one was only semi-eligible... he hadn't gotten a divorce yet. That was to be the first of many divorces for Donald: Good thing I didn't hook up with him, eh?

I won't go into the intimate details (my kids read this blog... haaaaa!), but some six months after meeting Cliff, after a rather rocky dating relationship, we were married. The part he loves to tell is how I went to sleep on our first date, at a drive-in movie. Hey, I think it was James Bond. I
still hate Bond movies. And I am not a night owl, never was. In spite of our incompatibility, next June we will have been married forty-five years.

So, if you have a blog and haven't done told your love story, how did you meet your spouse/significant other?

I looked awful with long hair. And those cat-eye glasses? They did not work for me at all, but you couldn't have told me so at the time.

Boy, I could tell you something about the perils of raising teenagers. But I think most of you already know, especially if you've had some of your own. Don't I have good-looking kids?

  1. I love stories with happy endings. Your's is truly a love story. I was only blessed with 27 years with my hubby but they were grand ones for sure. Lots of good memories there. Maybe someday I'll tell my story. I got my engagement ring at a drive-in theatre. There were few places we went back in those days and that seemed to be a favorite of quite a few. The 2nd favorite was going bowling. 'On Ya'-ma
