Oh, these cats!

I've known for a long time that cats love boxes.  Every time the UPS man comes, Unique and Butchie think it's Christmas.  However, I learned something new with my last shipment:  They like it better if they find a lot of messed-up, noisy, thoroughly wrinkled paper inside the box.

I would imagine they spent at least three or four hours doing this, all told.  They usually take a morning nap and an afternoon nap each day.  They totally skipped the morning nap, and I had to take the box and the paper away from them before they took their afternoon nap.  Cliff and I have a tendency to nap after dinner (at noon), and we couldn't have done that with those wild beasts trying to ruin their new favorite toy.

Now here I am.  It's the beginning of a new day, and I'm watching them once again, playing with the same box and paper.

In a world of school shootings, cities burning, wars, and inflation, I can put all my sadness on the back burner while I'm watching these silly cats.

He isn't missing his morning nap today, but he's guarding his favorite plaything while he sleeps.
