cats

Since I have invested over $200 in my three cats, I am trying to make friends with them.  I don't want to get too chummy, but I would like to be able to pet them if I'm so inclined.  Suzie, the most timid of them, is actually the most cooperative of the three.  If I sit in the grass and talk to her, she soon snuggles up against my leg and purrs like crazy... as long as I don't make a fast move.

I am discovering that cats are not the easiest creatures to photograph.  I took eighteen pictures this evening and ended up with four I am not ashamed to share, and I had to crop those.  I don't know where Mama Kitty was during this photoshoot; probably out catching mice or moles, as is her evening custom.

Jakie, Suzie's brother, has been the most fearless of the cats.  He is also the most independent, and will only let me pet him when he is in the mood.  Tonight he was NOT in the mood.  Stupid independent cat.  I have never had a dog treat me this way.

Suzie left my side briefly to play ring-around-the-rosy with her brother.

But then she returned to my side.

  1. I only have one cat but I totally agree that they are a tough subject to photograph. You may have seen my latest attempt. The darn cat covered his face. LOL

  2. They are funny and quirky though. And way less dependent. I like cats better. They aren't as needy. :)

  3. I'm a big cat lover and your kitties are so pretty. I never expected (or wanted) to have so many as we do now. Two inside and two outside! And I know what you mean about getting a good shot of them!

  4. Cute cat photos! You're right - - it's nearly impossible to photograph any cat. The stray cats in my yard never stand still long enough.
My own cat - who I keep indoors - runs away when I get the camera because she doesn't like the flash.

  5. Glad at least one is willing to make up with you. I love to hear a cat putt. I do miss that. I used to have one that would jump up on my shoulder and stay there as long as I would let her. Cats are definitely different from dogs. I've had both and liked them all.
