I stopped playing Farmville long ago; I went back and tried it again recently and it bored me silly. So that's not a problem. The best thing about Facebook is keeping up with relatives that I normally wouldn't keep in touch with. That has been wonderful, and I will miss it.
But then I think about how many good books I could read in the time I spend on Facebook, not to mention the household chores that often go undone, and I think getting rid of it might be the right thing to do.
I'll let you know; I'm going to ponder it for a day or two. Meanwhile, how about a picture of my granddog, Titan, who came to visit me today.
Look at the size of that foot.
I have never joined Facebook. Everyone always tells me what I'm missing. But the truth is I don't like the intrusive nature of such things. Blogging is more my style. Whatever you decide to do about your account, make peace with it. Titan is going to be a BIG dog. But such a sweet one. What did Iris think?
ReplyDeleteIris didn't seem to hate him as much as she hates most new dogs. I kept her on a leash at first to make sure she didn't attack him. Then I turned her loose. She growled once and Cliff got on to her, and after that it seems like things went fine.
ReplyDeleteI'm not to the point where I would delete my FB account because I love keeping in touch with people. However, I do worry about the cookies that every free site puts on. Yikes.
ReplyDeleteI've never liked Facebook. I tried it three different times and have deleted my account three times. Facebook is not only overwhelming, it's intrusive and pointless. I much prefer blogging - - even though it's overwhelming, intrusive, and pointless......
ReplyDeleteI mostly agree with you. Facebook is becoming a pain in the neck. I went on there initially so people I went to high school and college with could "find me" if they wanted to. There are some good things about it, but I don't want to play games etc. etc. Rather than delete the account, I mostly just ignore it
ReplyDeleteI got up in the middle of the night one night and my name was going up and down with what I was doing at that city whatever. I deleted the city thingy and low and behold today my name was on there again so I changed my password. I do check it and comment sometime but mostly find it boring.
ReplyDeleteWhere's Cliff's 1855?
ReplyDeleteI just deleted my Facebook acct. I had a LOT of family & friends on there... many I interacted with everyday. But I, like you, found this latest change (they were changing things every few weeks, it seemed!!) to be absolutely over-the-line intrusive & rude. I permanently deleted it & while I went through withdrawal BIG time after I did, I'm now calming down a bit about it all... and I'm able to see it for what it really was... a huge time-gobbler that was practically a full-time job just to use.
ReplyDeleteLike you, I have a lot of things I'm doing now which had totally gone by the wayside.
That type of intrusion must be resisted & rebelled against. At least that's how I feel about it and that's why I left.
Peace~ Andrea
P.S. Now imagine what we'd do if we didn't have the internet altogether?! Don't think that idea hasn't crossed my mind too.
Well, you know me. I guess I'm hooked for life. Although with the changes I'm really not sure that it is going to be MORE interactive. It seems LESS interactive now which means I'm not having as much fun with it. I liked the way timeline looked, but I'll have to wait and see if it is going to hold me. I switched back to the regular FB b/c it kept messing up and going blank while it's in beta. Supposed to see the NEW FB on Friday last I heard.
ReplyDeleteMust be in the air... I was just thinking the same thing about FB. What I don't like is how you can now see what other people (who are not a friend) are posting as their status. If I can see them, they can see me. It's all getting a rather creepy feel. I've always used my kids as an excuse to stay on, but heck, I can keep tabs on that just as easy if I need to (as in "Moveover, kid... I'm about to get nosey!). Haha.
ReplyDeleteIt would probably take me at least 6 months to figure out how to use facebook, it took me that long to figure out how to comment to your blog. Cute puppy! Vicki
ReplyDeleteGreat googly moogly. That dog is going to be ten feet tall!
ReplyDeleteTitan is aptly named, I believe!
ReplyDeleteI agree with you about FB. The main reason I stay on it to keep up with friends and family.
I did start a Google+ account, they are much like FB, but I don't think they have the games. I am not sure what all they have because I haven't gone there much.
