Yesterday was number three in a series of eight chemo sessions for Rachel; her friend Brooke went with her and took this picture. While there have been side effects (headaches, insomnia, times when food doesn't taste good), she hasn't had trouble with nausea so far. She goes to work every day. Unbelievable, right?
My daughter is tougher than YOUR daughter!
I'm kidding, of course. All of us have an inner strength that we aren't really aware of until necessity forces us to use it.
I've always thought it unfair that both my kids seemed to inherit their all their looks from Cliff's side of the family. Neither of them got my curly hair or brown eyes. But finally we have found something in Rachel that she got from me: Her head is the exact same shape as mine! We would never have realized this if she hadn't lost all her hair.
The only thing I seem to have passed on to my granddaughters is my big feet. Of all things for them to inherit, why that?
I'm glad to hear Rachel is doing so well. Your daughter is a very strong woman and I think along with her head shape she probably inherited that strength from you. I'll continue praying that she'll have a complete recovery. I've found that a lot of strong women find their strength by bending their knees.

I'm really glad she isn't having a bunch of side effects from that stuff. Some folks are really sick from it.
I'm sure i would be one of those folks. Cause thats just my luck.

ReplyDeleteRachel looks good, we just went thru this with my BIL and I went with him to every session, it's hard. But she inherited your values and strength...I say prayers for her every night...God bless....

ReplyDeleteRachel is a beautiful girl even with her head covered. I'm so glad her side effects are not any worse. I'm sure they are bad enough and it is amazing that she is going to work everyday.

ReplyDeleteRachael's smile is priceless. With all she is going through to be able to do that speaks to al the hope in her heart. My daughter is pulling back to back shifts, but emotionally she is walking a tightrope. And not doing well. I am glad GOD spared Rachael the nausea that comes with chemo. I wish her well.
