This is just curiosity on my part. When Cliff's sisters buy a watermelon, they cut it and chop up the whole thing in one- to two-inch hunks, throwing away the rind. They put the chopped-up watermelon in a closed container and say, "I cleaned the watermelon."
It wasn't dirty!
That's what I think every time they say that.
So I'm taking a poll: Do any of my readers do this with their watermelon? Do you call it "cleaning the watermelon?"
I will post the link to this entry on Facebook, so some people will answer me there.
I have to know if I'm the oddball. It seems so STRANGE to me!
Never cleaned my watermelon .
ReplyDeleteI've never cleaned mine either.
ReplyDeleteI cut our watermelon off the rind, but have never 'cleaned'it. Mostly I do that so it takes up less room in the fridg.
ReplyDeleteNope, no cleaning here. Cutting up, yes. But then I hate watermelon, so I don't deal with it anyway.
ReplyDeleteI've always chopped mine up - otherwise it doesn't get eaten. When we have guests it disappears in a couple of hours!
ReplyDeleteStrange to me and Thomas too. We've never called it that.
ReplyDeleteOH MY! The best part is eating it off the rind. At least it was. Now that I'm older I spoon every bit I can get. Blessings, Penny
ReplyDeleteWe cut up the watermelon...we may eat some of it on the rind then cut up the rest for the fridge. Take care, Sheila
ReplyDeleteNever cleaned my watermelon. I cut it up so its easier to grab a bowl to nibble on. Interesting how some others describe it. Wendy
ReplyDeleteNope. I eat it and some of the rind too!
ReplyDeleteWell I never thought it would be called that. Never heard that. To me, to clean a watermelon is to wash the dirt off. lol
