Friday and Saturday were glorious days as far as how I felt. Sunday, not so much. Every time the burn of indigestion starts up, I try to think what I could have done differently the day before: Saturday I probably ate too many grapes, as we have an abundance of them in the refrigerator; I do like grapes. Also, because I'd felt good the two days before, I decided a little cream on my steel-cut oats shouldn't hurt. Later on, I had less than a half-cup of ice cream. From what I've read, Barrett's doesn't react to fats very well, so those transgressions caused yesterday's problems. And perhaps none of that caused the problem; maybe this condition just rears its ugly head when it wants to. However, I won't be using cream or eating ice cream again. Today appears to be another good one, knock wood.
Saturday my daughter and three grandchildren (with their children). It was the first time we've seen them all together in a long, long time. It's so much fun to watch the babies, and to see our almost thirteen-year-old great-granddaughter conversing like an adult instead of like a child. They grow up so fast, don't they? I have another great-granddaughter in Georgia.
It was hard for my daughter to get a decent picture. Babies don't like to sit still. |
That's Brynn on the left, Ivan on the right. Ivan is the youngest, but he's the biggest. He keeps his mom hopping, because he wants to do everything he isn't supposed to do and does not like to take no for an answer.
It looks like it's going to be a nice day, although cloudy. From what I see on the weather forecast, it is going to steadily get warmer and by next week, we should be getting normal temperatures, accompanied by rain. I never gripe about rain!
Thank goodness it's to be warmer here this week too. Yesterday was just like winter. We get a few days of warm weather and then it cools off again. I just hate being cold. It should be warm here this time of year. I want to plant flowers but haven't been able to . I do hope you're garden survived the cold. It is a lot of work to have to plant it over again. Hopefully now our weather will finally straighten up!
ReplyDeleteI’m freezing. It’s 56 here. High will be 60.
ReplyDeleteWe're getting mid 60s mostly and nice(at least decent) weather. I hope it continues, although I'll be gone back East for the next couple weeks. I'll be at the mercy of Ohio and New York weather. What a great photo! One to treasure.
ReplyDeleteI would imagine you will learn what foods you can eat and what foods you can't, Donna. Trial and error. I'm just happy you know what's wrong to begin with. Oh my gosh, straight line winds are as dangerous as a tornado. I'm glad your home is in one piece. What glorious company you had for Mother's Day. I love-love-love all the children!!! Those two standing at the door are pure sugar! ~Andrea xoxo
ReplyDeleteWe got much of the same, winds and cold but not as cold as you. I think it only got down to 40 here. Still, I was mowing our orchard at the start of the storm front and by the time I finished, I was thoroughly chilled to the bone with my light jacket I was wearing.
ReplyDeleteCold here too (southern MO). I will probably wait a little while longer to put the houseplants out. I am sure the physician has told you that you will need frequent checkups to monitor Barrett's to make sure it doesn't advance. You are blessed to have grandchildren.
ReplyDeleteThere were high winds here in TN the other night. I always worry about all the very tall trees that are only five feet from my bedroom. It's chilly today - only 45 degrees. Is it really May??
ReplyDeleteI'm glad you got to see your daughter and grandchildren.
Oh my gosh! Cute! Cute! Cute! I'm so envious that you got to see your grandkids. Mine are growing so quickly and I can't go to see them and they can't come here. Sigh... Your babies are so darn adorable. I wish I could send you some of our warmth... and it's very warm here. I would appreciate some coolness actually.
ReplyDeleteWhat a blessing that you got to see the family all together. Love that picture on the stairs. Know how you feel when you eat something that really doesn't agree. Then you can only blame yourself. If I have a peppermint patty I will pay. And I do love them.
ReplyDeleteWe have the same stupid below average temperature weather. If it doesn't go away soon things will go straight from cold to summer hot.
ReplyDeleteIt's 44 degrees here in southeast Kansas this morning...and on May 11th!
ReplyDeleteWe are also having colder weather. I'm glad you were able to spend time with family!
