Home-grown
This is today's dinner. I raised it all myself, and brought the vegetables in from the garden today. The picture doesn't show the cucumber that Cliff peeled to have with his lunch, our first of the year and possibly our last, if the squash bugs get carried away. I got the beef fillet more done than we like it, but it was still "tender as a mother's love", as Cliff says. I wish every one of you a meal as tasty as this one.
It looks like a meal fit for a king for sure! I guess you are still having your big meal of the day early. I thought maybe that would change with retirement that you both enjoy now. I had a ham sandwich...no comparison at all.
ReplyDeleteI wish I'd planted potatoes and carrots. Perhaps next year. I'm a little intimidated by the idea of growing my own corn for some reason, but it would be nice to have.
ReplyDeleteRight now we mostly have zucchini, cucumbers and grape tomatoes. I also picked my largest jalapeno yesterday.
That looks SO good! And good to see the meat didn't take up more room on the plate then the veggies. Very healthy meal : )
ReplyDeleteNicely done--it looks fabulous. Not being much of a meat eater, I'm drooling over those veggies, especially the fresh corn. LOVE CORN!!
ReplyDeleteLooks great. Nothing like raising your own food. I spent a lot of time the last 3 weeks working in my daughter's garden near San Antonio. Lots of tomatoes and cucumbers, peppers, squash and even Japanese eggplant. Had to find recipes for that!
ReplyDeleteI'm drooling over the photo and I've had dinner! It all looks so delicious. We planted sweet corn but it didn't amount to anything, so we'll have to buy some. Haven't had it yet, so am looking forward to it...love corn on the cob!
ReplyDeleteMy mouth is just watering!!!! That looks soooooo delicious! I love a good filet and corn on the cob. The little red potatoes are making me drool. You've sure got a green thumb!
ReplyDeleteI too have those restless nights sometimes. Go to bed and then wake up in an hour or two. Grrrr! I start praying for people, it's a good time to do that as the list is long.
Congratulations to Cliff on his retirement!! The cake is so appropriate for him! I've got some tractors on my blog today and thought of him!
