HELP!!!

We buy cheap vanilla ice cream, mainly to have around when grandkids want to make a shake; these are the gallon containers the ice cream comes in.  What am I going to do with all these strawberries?  I guess I'll freeze them.  The trouble is, they're only just getting started.  This is just the tip of the iceberg.

Strawberries like to hide.  Notice all those little green ones waiting to attack me later on?  HELP!

My daughter's dog, Hawkeye, is staying here while they vacation.  He likes to stay close by his people.

He sleeps on our front porch when he's here.  I'd let him inside, but he's a walking hair factory.

Iris stays near me wherever I go, although she does sometimes lounge around the yard while I'm in the house.
I need to do something with those strawberries; I picked them before 7 o'clock this morning, and it's 1:30 now.  I can't just let them spoil.

  1. Donna, I live close enough to take some of those off your hands! Just let me know if you need help picking! We have a few strawberry plants and we are getting just enough to pick and eat fresh off the vine but not enough to make a dessert or jam! We are looking for a place to pick, we have places 30 minutes south and west of us we like to go to.

  4. I sure wish I lived close by, because I would help you devour them. I love strawberries!

  5. I would help you but am too far away for sure. I wish I had your problem. Looks like Iris and Hawkeye must be getting along just fine. At least they aren't chasing each other around the house. I hope you have a big freezer.

  6. We adore strawberries, so this is a problem I -wish- I had. We don't know how long we will stay in one place (Geoff's employers can move us around on a whim), so I plant everything in containers. I have never had strawberries do well in containers, although I have been seeing more and more of them advertised planted that way. Maybe I should give them a try again :)

  9. I make pulled pork sandwiches with strawberry BBQ sauce ~ one of the best sandwiches I've ever had. I did the leanest pork roast I could find in the crock pot, made a tomato sauce, mustard (and whatever I thought should go in) with chunked strawberries and let it go in. I added spices to my taste, let it simmer until the meat fell apart, reserved 1/2 the liquid while pulling pork. Then I added more berries to the sauce and served. Wonderful!
