Escape day!

I've sunk deep into the doldrums during this siege of winter weather, as I'm sure most of the population of Missouri and surrounding states has done. I think the final blow was when it became too cold to endure my walk. Cliff made it to work all four days this week, and I think he was glad to go, just for a change of scenery. Other than a couple of neighbors at our door briefly a few times, I've seen no human face other than my husband's since last weekend; nor have I been off the place.
Today, we escape. I've talked Cliff into getting a pair of Muck boots. At first he protested, saying he'd be wearing them outside, then going into the shop, welding something, and melting holes in them.
"Cliff," I told him with a sigh, "they slip on and off easily; you won't mind changing to your work boots."
And I proceeded to demonstrate to him the ease with which the boots are put on.
"They don't rub your heel?"
"No, not all all."
"They keep your feet warm?"
"Well, you saw me taking my walk when it was below ten degrees; and I swear to you, I have not had cold feet since buying my Muck boots."
So we're planning on heading to Kleinschmidt's today; here's hoping they haven't sold out of the boots during our recent onslaught of cold temperatures. I think Cliff also has plans to buy something very pricey at Clark's Tool and equipment, so we're going to be traveling in quite a wide area: Southeast to Higginsville, west on I-70 to Blue Springs, who knows where else... and I look forward to it!
I'll be picking up a few groceries and necessities someplace along the way.
Maybe I should take a shower and comb my hair for a change this morning, do you think? That should get me out of my hibernation mode.
I think I just realized why Cliff was so glad to go to work this week.

  11. I hope you got out and enjoying yourself. It is hard being stuck in for days. We've been out and about a bit, but we're right here in town, so it isn't so hard to get out.
