Riding on the ferry boats

Sunday we went motorcycle riding with Cliff's sister and her husband, who now reside in St. Louis. It's no fun riding on the big-city freeways, but Pat led us across the Missouri River into Illinois where we had one of the most memorable rides of our lives. The autumn colors had the whole world painted beautifully; the temperatures were great for riders wearing leathers; and we got to ride on two ferries, which was a new experience for me and Cliff. The first one, the Brussels Ferry, was free. It leads onto a huge island-like peninsula populated mostly by farmers. Rather than backtrack, we took the Calhoun ferry back into Missouri.

We barely missed the boat, which left shortly after we lined up.

We didn't have to wait too long to get on the free ferry.

Almost across the Mississippi River.

I like Collinsville IL, near St. Louis. We meet my family there a lot.

it looks like you had a great time.

I miss riding the ferries, growing up in N.MI on the Great Lakes, we rode them all the time.
