Now you know I try to stay away from politics, but here's what I hate about politically themed blogs, no matter whether they're right-wing or left-wing: Not one of those people wants to admit there's a possibility that they could be wrong! These people rant and rave about the stupidity of the opposing party, and of course, that person's opinion is ALWAYS RIGHT!
It's the same with other topics as well. Raving atheists, for instance (notice I said "raving", not the quiet ones who state their opinion and then leave it alone). It's your business whether you believe in God or not, but if you're proselytizing and you won't even admit there's the slightest chance that you might be wrong, that bothers me.
Certain religious zealots are guilty of the same thing, this attitude that "I'm right and I know I am and I've never been wrong in my life, so you should think exactly like I do."
If we paid attention to people like that, we'd all be out there with Fred Phelps.
By the way, my opinion about politics is that no matter who's in office, we're pretty much out of luck. The economy stinks, our school systems are rotting. I don't blame it on any political party. I blame it on "we, the people". I have absolutely no hope for things improving in the United States of America. Sorry for the negativity, but that's the way I see it.
But I'm perfectly willing to admit that I could be wrong, about that, or any other subject.
Thank you for sending the link. I can see no way to add myself as a follower though which means I will not get alerts when you post anything. I am an old J-Lander as well, been writing for years now.
ReplyDeleteCannot comment on American politics but I have no time for politicians in general lol
I am NEVER sure I'm right about anything, so I can't stand those people either. If we could just share solutions to problems without all the political hype, something might get done! But I don't see that happening in today's polarized political climate where anyone who disagrees has to be the enemy. I share your pessimism, Donna.
ReplyDeleteI could be wrong, Donna...
ReplyDeleteDid you really post this at 3:14am??
ReplyDeleteYes, I did, Nancy. I can seldom force myself to sleep longer than five or six hours. I quit fighting it long ago.
ReplyDeleteI agree with you but still find myself getting worked up every now and then and I suppose I have posted a few rants. Most of my political posts are e-mails I've received that I hope are thought provoking. I wish I had some solutions.
ReplyDeleteI have quit reading a couple of blogs because they became political.
