Went to the Missouri State Fair today

We went last Sunday too, but we didn't get to see any horses or Jersey cows.  Today was a perfect time to go, with temperatures in the low 80's and most everything half-price, including entry to the fair and most of the fair food.  First of all, we walked through the barns, where I drooled over the lovely Jersey cows.

Then we watched the young people showing their Jerseys:

But the highlight of the day was the Budweiser Clydesdales.

  1. We saw the Budweiser Clydesdales a couple of years ago at the Buckwheat Festival out in Kingwood WV - they're tremendous!

  3. Sounds like you had a great Sunday. I bet that the fair people were glad to have some nice weather. It' seems like when it's too hot attendance goes down.

  4. I haven't been to a fair since I lived in Springfield. I have seen the Budweiser Clydesdales and they're truly amazing!

  5. I've heard Bud's new Belgian owners want to get rid of the Clydesdales and other properties such as Grant's farm, etc. Don't know if it's true, they are supposedly just interested in beer.

  6. We usually always go the last Sunday. I prefer it because they have the most awesome horse shows that day. But this year we went last Saturday. It was Mule day. It was OK. But I really miss seeing the horses. I'm glad you got to see the Clydesdales.

  7. I haven't been to the fair since I danced in the rain at one 10-12 years ago. Looks like a fun way to spend the afternoon.

  8. You make my retired city life better. As old ranch managers, we lived the isolated, hard work, horses and gardens and cows life for a long time. I miss it but we couldn't keep going. Thank you for your wonderful blog.
