After the rain (a quick update)

There was no erosion in the newly-planted pasture, even on the back slope that always washes.  We got about a quarter-inch of rain, which is perfect for getting the seedlings started.  Now if the grass and clover get up and growing before the next downpour, the little plants will help prevent erosion.

Since I was out there anyhow, I figured I'd better swing by Babe.  I'll be checking her mornings and evenings until her calf shows up, and for the first week or so after it's born, to make sure it hasn't fallen in a ditch or gotten under the electric fence.

  1. Oh my, is it baby time??? I didn't realized she was expecting so soon! I'm thinking this will be the first of 3 to come. We got more rain here this evening but not a lot.

  2. I'm glad you got some rain. Texas has been getting more rain than usual, but we still have drought conditions.
    Keep us informed about Babe.....

  3. I think you must be living right to get that soft rain on the seed bed.

  4. I'm glad you guys didn't get too much rain. We got a real toad strangler last night. The sky looked like it might drop a tornado at any moment. Luckily it didn't.

  5. It's amazing to see bare land and to know that it will be transformed to a thing of beauty.

I hope things go well for Babe and her babe. :)
