Cliff and I have been big fans of Jerry Lee Lewis for as long as he's been performing. Years ago when he made his country comeback, we saw him live and in person at Memorial Hall in Kansas City, Kansas. Our kids were small at the time. Just a side note: I've also seen his cousin Jimmy Swaggart (several years ago) and more recently, his cousin Mickey Gilley, who still performs in Branson.

Now I realize Jerry Lee has the morals of an alley cat, but let's face it: if we had to listen to music based on the morals of the singers, there wouldn't be many choices.

Jerry Lee also has the biggest ego in country music. That's OK with me, too.

So we've recently purchased his latest CD, "Last Man Standing".

"Fifty years ago, Sam Phillip's legendary Sun Records in Memphis, Tennessee was the home of Elvis Presley, Johnny Cash, Roy Orbison, Carl Perkins, and Jerry Lee Lewis, the founding fathers of rock and roll. Today, Jerry Lee Lewis is the "last man standing.'"

Yep, they've all died except Jerry Lee, who probably lived as hard and fast as any of them. And yet he looks to be in pretty good shape for 72, all things considered!

There are duets with the following people: Jimmy Page, BB King, Bruce Springsteen, Mick Jagger, Ronnie Wood, Neil Young, Robbie Robertson, John Fogerty, Keith Richards, Ringo Starr, Merle Haggard, Kid Rock, Rod Sterward, George Jones, Willie Nelson, Toby Keith, Eric Clapton, Little Richard, Delaney Bramlett, Buddy Guy, Don Henley, and Kris Kristofferson.

It's just a downright fun album. If you like Jerry Lee. Check out the video of Kid Rock and Jerry Lee cutting down on "Honky-Tonk Woman".

  1. Hubby and I have always liked Jerry Lee especially his piano playing. Didn't realize he was the last man standing. Would never have imagined him with Kid Rock but it was fun! Wish I could shampoo Kid's hair though! lol!
