Time to give away PW's Cookbooks

I still have two signed copies of Ree Drummond's cookbook, "The Pioneer Woman Cooks".  I think it's time these cookbooks found a home.

Sure, it's been out awhile, but I'll bet lots of people would still like an autographed copy of this book.  Most of Ree's recipes aren't what you could call "heart-healthy", so I don't use a lot of them, much as I love the chicken spaghetti.  I actually wanted the book for the pictures and stories.  Everybody knows I'm a big fan of Ree Drummond, so if she wrote a book about auto repair, I'd probably buy that, too.
Her current book, "Black Heels to Tractor Wheels", is still quite popular; I notice there's a constant waiting list for it at the library.  Thank goodness I have my own copy, and read it as soon as I received it; my daughter has it borrowed now.

Anyway.  If you'd like a chance at one of these two books (autographed!), just let me know in the comment section here, or on Facebook, or in an email.  We'll draw a name from Cliff's hat, just like we did last time.  Please have your entry in before Cliff wakes up next Thursday, please.  (No, I don't have an exact time; sorry.)
This time I'm not putting any restrictions on it.  With the exception of my daughter and my son, even relatives are allowed this time.  My daughter and daughter-in-law already have the book anyhow.

Nita came forward!

Indeed, just as I was making plans to hold another drawing for "Black Heels to Tractor Wheels", the elusive Nita stepped in to claim her prize.  Nita, be sure to contact me at mosie1944@gmail.com with your address, and I will send the book on its way.
Ah, she's done that.  She's another Missourian!

Nita, you are a winner... come forward

I'm still trying to flush Nita out of the brush so she'll come and claim her prize.  I'm hoping if I put her name in the title, she'll be more likely to notice.  You folks who entered to win Black Heels had better keep your eyes open, because if the prize is unclaimed Monday morning there will be another drawing for it.  I've saved the names in the bowl, just in case.
I finished my own copy of "Black Heels to Tractor Wheels" today.  The ending was perfect, but it left me wanting more; do you suppose Ree will write another book taking up where this one leaves off?.  The book takes the story a little farther than Ree's online version on her blog, going on through their first year of marriage and the birth of their oldest daughter.
Cliff is next in line to read it.

We have a winner and a runner-up

The winner of "Black Heels to Tractor Wheels" is Nita.  Here's what she said when she entered the giveaway:  Nita said...
I'd like to throw my name in the hat even tho I read the book as she wrote it. An autographed copy would be so nice. It's been fun watching her grow so to speak. Nice give away...
If airline tickets were free? I'd still have to drive. Don't trust that many people with my life anymore....haha
By the way, Nita, there's more of the story in the book than you've read online.

There was also an "Anita" who entered, but did not win; I'm mentioning this because I wouldn't want any sort of misunderstanding that would lead to disappointment.

The runner-up, Sonya, gets PW's cookbook.  Here's the comment she left for her entry:  Sonya said...
Oh wow, I would love to open my Island magazine and just pick any spot. lol This magazine helps me with my constant need to be near ocean and sand. The latest article I read was about Antigua. George has been there and wants to go back. Warm and tropical with mopeds to ride about the island. He said it was not Americanized and that would be fun to see what life is like. I have never been on a moped but willing to learn. lol So many places to visit that looks enticing. I didn't realize Ree had this book out. That is awesome. She is something else! I finally got the cookbook.

Well Sonya, now you have two of PW's cookbooks.  This one is autographed, however.  Perhaps you can use the one you just bought as a gift for someone.

If I sounded extra excited about Sonya winning, it's because we've been blogging buddies for so long.  My daughter met her in person once.  Actually, I would have been that excited for any of you that I'm familiar with for any reason.

If the two winners will email me with their addresses at mosie1944@gmail.com, I'll get the books in the mail in the next day or two.  There are still two cookbooks left for a future giveaway!

Countdown

I printed off my list of names for the drawing.  Three people gave their full names, so I edited their last names out of this picture, just in case they didn't want that information spread around the Internet.

I cut the individual entries, folded them, and put them in a bowl.  Now I wait for Cliff to wake up and draw two names:  The winner receives "Black Heels to Tractor Wheels" and the runner-up receives Pioneer Woman's cookbook.  I will give the winners until Wednesday morning to claim the prize and send me their addresses; if I haven't heard from them by then, we'll draw another name.
I know this is a rather primitive way to hold a drawing on the Internet.  I realize there's some random generator thingie other people use for drawings.  But I'm a pretty primitive person, so until I do a giveaway that gets a ridiculous number of entries, I'll do it this way.

Counting down

It's only a little over twenty-four hours until Cliff will draw a name out of a hat to determine the lucky winner of a signed copy of Ree Drummond's book, "Black Heels to Tractor Wheels".  I'm in the process of reading my own copy.  I followed a lot of the story as she serialized it on her blog, but I'm enjoying reading those parts again; I believe I'm about to the point where I stopped, because it's beginning to be new and unfamiliar to me.
Did you know Ree has signed a deal with Columbia Pictures for a possible movie version of the book?
I didn't stop reading the story online because I lost interest, by the way.  Somehow my attention span isn't so great, reading on the computer, I think because there are so many things online to distract me... you know, like checking email or tending Farmville crops.  I do much better reading my Nook, or an actual book, away from the computer.
I've made out the list for the drawing, ready to type out and cut into strips to fold and toss in a hat.  I hope there's no confusion about who is who.  For instance, I have one Vikki and one Vicki.  So I hope if I draw one of those, the winner will know which one is her.  One person left an anonymous comment, said they were in New Mexico, so I wrote the name like this:  "Anonymous in New Mexico".
You can go to that entry and read all the comments and see where everybody said they would travel if they had a choice.  I received three entries by email instead of in the comments.  They're in the running with everybody else.
It isn't too late to get your name in; midnight tonight is the cutoff time.
I've decided to throw in a consolation prize.  Since I have three signed copies of Ree's cookbook, I'll give one of those away to the second name Cliff picks.  If it goes to someone who already has the cookbook, perhaps they will have a friend who would enjoy it as a gift.
Now, everybody keeps saying how nice I am to have this drawing, but all it's going to cost me is the postage to send the books to the winners.  Ree donated the books; how else would I have gotten them autographed?
I was asked on Facebook if I'd met Pioneer Woman; no, I have not, but I've read her blog for so long it feels as though I know her.  That's enough for me.  We're "cyber-neighbors", don't you know?
While we're on the subject of books, Groupon has a deal that will get you ten dollars off a twenty-dollar purchase at Barnes and Noble; it can be used for a Nook Book, too.  I put in for my coupon this morning.

Just a reminder

Tomorrow morning Monday morning Cliff will be drawing a name to find out who gets to be the lucky winner of Ree Drummond's book, "Black Heels to Tractor Wheels."
We have thirty-three entries so far.  Good luck to all.  If you would like this book and haven't entered for a chance to win yet, there's still time.  Go HERE and leave a comment.
Sorry about getting a day ahead of myself up there.  This winter has me in such a state, I don't know what day it is.

Giveaway!

I have here an extra copy of "Black Heels to Tractor Wheels", Ree Drummond's latest book.  I want to share the love and see that one of you gets this book.  It'll be something to help pass the time on these cold, snowy winter days.  Unless, like my sister, you live in south Texas.  Or Florida.  In that case, it's something you can read while you lie on the beach getting a tan.
Did you know that the readers of the Pioneer Woman blog helped choose the title for this book?  Yep, Ree had several ideas for a title back when she started telling this love story on her blog; she took a poll of her readers to find out which we liked best.  I voted for "Black Heels".

Ree autographed the book.

To enter this giveaway, please leave a comment telling me someplace you'd visit right now if the airplane tickets were free.  I allow anonymous comments on my blog, but if you have trouble with that, email me at mosie1944@gmail.com with your entry.   I'll write down the names (or email addresses), put them in a hat, and have Cliff draw.  Let's end this contest at midnight Sunday; we'll find out the winner when Cliff wakes up on Monday morning.

If you're like Cliff and really don't want to go anyplace, that's OK.  Leave any kind of comment as long as it's a nice one.

Where would I visit if I had the chance?  Hawaii, I think; if I couldn't do that, I'd go visit my sister in Texas.   Today it's supposed to get up to 74 there; tomorrow a cold front will affect that area, so the high will only be 54; but I'm sure it'll warm back up in a day or two.  It always does.

I would ask that relatives not enter this giveaway because if one of them won, it would look a little fishy.  Besides, when I'm done reading my own copy, I'll pass it around the family to anyone who's interested.

Ree will be going on a book-signing trip again; you'll find the schedule HERE.  So far, Kansas City isn't on the list.

Another chance at "Pioneer Woman Cooks"

Midlife Mom was the winner of Pioneer Woman's cookbook in the giveaway I had here on my blog; she already had a copy of the book, but she wanted one with an autograph. Now she's keeping the new one and having a giveaway that will bless some lucky winner with her other one. Go on over to Home on the Range and put your name in the pot! She has some interesting rules that will give you more chances to win, so scroll on down in that entry and read all about it.

Free Kroger gift card

Yep, over at $5 Dinners. To be chosen at random. I think all our Kroger Stores are a thing of the past, but if I don't find a relative with a Kroger store nearby, I'll do my own giveaway on this blog and see that a reader wins it. That is, of course, if I win.
