Goodbye dear reader, whoever you are

Someone who has apparently followed my blog for years was offended by my opinions about the Duck Dynasty thing.  This guy wrote a very kind email message to tell me he could no longer follow my blog because of what I had to say about a television show.

I don't care.

I didn't start this blog for him.  If I were looking for a lot of readers, I would have gone in an entirely different direction long ago.  It amazes me that a television show is that important to someone.

Honestly, I don't care if anyone but my husband reads this stuff.  I blog mostly for myself.  I have stated here, many times, that the reason I started a blog was so I could express my opinions in a spot on the Internet that was mine alone.  Those who don't like what I have to say don't have to read it.  I got tired of being censured on message boards for saying things that, honestly, weren't even that controversial.

I do appreciate the supportive comments, here and on Facebook; and the friendly emails from those who for some reason aren't able to comment here.

If a bunch of millionaires want to grow beards and act stupid, that's their business.  But I am allowed free speech, just as much as they are.  Folks, I am always willing to admit I could be wrong on any subject, but I think I have the right to express my opinion.

And I want to thank my checkered group of friends who occasionally chasten me, often disagree with me, and yet listen to what I have to say.  Since they listen to me, I listen to them.  Because, you know, I could be wrong.

I find it pretty sad that someone will react like that to someone elses thoughts and opinions.

Well at least he quit over something that could easily affect the future of mankind on the Earth.

I have to say that it's very ironic that the reader would send you that message, considering the situation. My mom always tells me, "Consider the source" which can be difficult to do in the heat of the moment. People who are unable to look at opposing viewpoints and (gasp) perhaps learn something or grow from it are AFRAID. They don't want anything or anyone to mess with their very locked in view of the world or how it should be. I'm glad that you continue to express your opinions, whether I agree with them or not. It is a sad world where we can't be at all open minded to other people's point of view; as we all SHOULD know, our opinions can affect our employment, but otherwise, we have the right to them.

Don't let one person ruin it for the rest of us. you are entitled to your opinion.

I agree you should be allowed to write your thoughts that is what our blogs are for.

I don't understand how someone could be so sensitive and petty that they would abandon your blog simply because you voiced an opinion. Hyper-sensitivity seems to be RAMPANT nowadays and it isn't pretty.

I am an extremely sensitive person, but I'm never bothered by what other people write in their blogs. They are entitled to voice their opinions. This is America - - and thank God it's not communist China!!!

Admittedly, however, I'm usually careful about what I write in my own blog due to having upset sensitive people in the past. Every time I bash Texas (which I HATE) I hear from readers who think Texas is the greatest place on earth. I always ruffle feathers when I write about politics. And I have a few personal friends who go absolutely insane when I write that I think global warming is a hoax.

Well,Donna, we can't win them all, can we? Keep being yourself!

I love your stance Donna! I felt the same way when I was blogging.

It was my space to do or say whatever I wanted.

People could like me and follow me or not.

I didn't care and neither should you.
