Things you can read in a bra store

I accompanied my daughter to a couple of appointments today.  We had Route 44 drinks for breakfast and, later on, hamburgers for brunch.  I read on my Nook while she was at her first appointments of the day, in which they watched her heart beat and later, took body fluid samples.
Her second appointment was at a specialty bra store.  I neglected to take the Nook in with me, so I picked up a booklet laying on the table:  "Peaceful Thoughts for Busy Women".  I picked it up and opened it to a random page, even though I am not a busy woman.
“Life is made up of moments, small pieces of glittering mica in a long stretch of gray cement. It would be wonderful if they came to us unsummoned, but particularly in lives as busy as the ones most of us lead now, that won’t happen. We have to teach ourselves how to make room for them, to love them, and to live, really live.”
― Anna QuindlenA Short Guide to a Happy Life

I read it over a few times, then made myself a note with enough of the words to Google when I got home.  Then I turned randomly to another page.
“I wanted a perfect ending. Now I've learned, the hard way, that some poems don't rhyme, and some stories don't have a clear beginning, middle, and end. Life is about not knowing, having to change, taking the moment and making the best of it, without knowing what's going to happen next.
Delicious Ambiguity.”
― Gilda Radner

Wow.  Of course I went on.
“The best things are nearest: breath in your nostrils, light in your eyes, flowers at your feet, duties at your hand, the path of God just before you. Then do not grasp at the stars, but do life's plain common work as it comes certain that daily duties and daily bread are the sweetest things of life.”
― Robert Louis Stevenson
“I pray because I can't help myself. I pray because I'm helpless. I pray because the need flows out of me all the time- waking and sleeping. It doesn't change God- it changes me.”
― C.S. Lewis

If you spend your whole life waiting for the storm, you'll never enjoy the sunshine.

Unfortunately, I was only able to Google up about half the phrases that stood out to me.  Next time I'm in Kansas, I'll have to go into that bra shop and sneak the book out with me.  Oh, wait.  That would be stealing.
I looked for it online, but didn't find it for sale.
Honestly, if I had the booklet, I probably wouldn't read it again.  It just happened to hold the words I needed for today.

  3. I love the quotes you found today. I do collect quotes and use them often. There have been days in my life that I've had to grasp all the inspiration I could find. I have a book shelf full of inspirational books, but I don't have that one. You'll have to let us know if you find it someplace. Somehow I think you were meant to be right there reading that book today.
