On the other hand

I, personally, am fine.  My health seems good, and it's going to get better when I lose some weight.  Outside of some achey joints, I have no complaints.  My husband recently passed some very stringent heart tests and received a clean bill of health.
My children and grandchildren are well-fed and healthy.

My great-granddaughter is smart and sassy and huggable, and as you can see, beautiful.  Today she is two years old.
I have sufficient funds to pay our bills, buy groceries, and stay on the Internet.  That last one is a biggie, as I'm sure you can imagine.

Cliff and I have a warm house and a comfortable bed in which to sleep; so does Iris, our dog.

Relatives come to visit and bring their pets; we have a dog-friendly house, now that Iris has figured out it isn't necessary to kill every dog who enters here.  (That's some lap-dog Cliff's sister has, isn't it?)
I'm looking forward to spring flowers and summer tomatoes and motorcycle rides and Cliff's retirement.
I always get the winter doldrums; it's nothing new, and it wouldn't matter if the whole world was perfect, I'd likely still get this way in the winter and around Christmas.  It isn't anything as serious as clinical depression.
I never forget to count my blessings, believe me.

  1. You do have many wonderful blessings and I know you are thankful for them too. It is so dark here this morning that I slept in till after 8:30. That is almost unheard of here at my house. I hope your Wednesday is a wonderful one!

  2. Your great granddaughter is darling! That sweet little face! I can see that she brightens your heart :) I'm not feeling all that festive this year either and when I can't get outside and hear the birds and smell the smells and see and feel the sun I can get downright cranky. I think it is just what you say-the winter doldrums.

I'm pretty certain this will be my favorite post of the day. And yes, she is very beautiful.

  8. I always enjoy your posts. Yes, we all have so much to be thankful for, the list can go on and on. My doctor told me the other day that those of us that are outside a lot in the summer, spring and fall get a lot of Vitamin D from the sun and then winter comes along and we don't get that so should take a supplement. I'm trying it as I can tend to get the blues too in the winter.

The list of quotes by attorneys was hilarious, almost wet my pants!

Merry Christmas Donna, all the best to you and Cliff and Iris!

  11. I believe that it's healthy to have some down time and also quite normal. I dislike people who pretend to be constantly happy. It's fake!!
