If you hate going to the dentist...

My friend Meesha did this entry a couple of years ago about what dentistry was like when he was growing up in Russia.  I guarantee you that if you read this little piece, you will start thanking your lucky stars for whatever dentist you patronize.  You will also be glad you live in the good old U.S.A.

  1. EEEEEEEOOOOOOOOOWWWWWWWWWWW! oH MY GOODNESS, I FEEL SICK! I don't like going to the dentist under the best of conditions, I can't imagine going under those conditions! Thankfully I don't mind needles, it's the drilling that causes panic, so I have them freeze my whole head and go at it! ha! It does cause me to take very good care of my teeth as I don't want to have any cavities that have to be drilled! My poor Hubs has a terrible time with his teeth due to his Addison's disease so he is constantly having things done. :o(

You are so right about cutting out cards and so much gift giving. I wish my family would draw names but they are resisting the idea!

Hope you and Cliff have a wonderful Christmas, Jesus is the reason for the season!

  2. when I was roughly about 9, an old-fashioned (and, for that matter, old) dentist in St. Joseph--my hometown--was doing work on my teeth and thought one needed to come out. He had already novocained one side of my mouth and said aloud that I didn't need novocaine on the other side so he'd just have at it.

He had to climb up on my chest, as I recall, to get it.

    He pulled.

    And he pulled.

And yes, he finally got it.

It had four of the biggest roots I'd ever seen--of course--and I bled seriously for a while.

I've never forgotten the incident, of course, or the doctor.

I thank goodness for more modern dentistry.

    And doctors.
