Swagbucks

I love free things.  I love having somebody pay me to search the Web, which is basically what Swagbucks does.  
It isn't the best search engine ever.  Sometimes when Swagbucks doesn't get me what I want, I have to use Google.  But I always use Swagbucks first, because I want those points.  
I've been building up points in order to get a $50 Amazon.com gift card, and I'm almost there.  But today I was looking in the Swag store and noticed $10 Barnes and Noble gift cards.  I have enough swag bucks to get four of those, and have some bucks left over.  Now that I have the Nook, I'm thinking that would be my wisest choice; most popular ebooks are ten dollars or less.  
I have that button on my sidebar promoting Swagbucks, but every once in a while I like to mention it here, just in case someone else likes free stuff and hasn't heard of it.  It isn't a ripoff.  It really works!   
I first learned about it by checking my Site Meter and noticing a regular reader was coming to my blog by way of Swagbucks.  I asked about this in a blog entry and my very kind reader explained it to me.   
At first I couldn't wait to get something free, and I'd settle for five-dollar gift cards.  Then I'd hold out for ten-dollar ones.  I can't believe I've almost garnered enough points for a fifty-dollar one!

I fully intended to save up my Swagbucks for something really valuable, something like an Amazon gift card, you know? But they were burning a hole in my pocket, so all I got was this lousy T-shirt. (You've seen those, right? My grandma went to Branson and all I got was this.... never mind.)

Actually, I like T-shirts. And I like free things.

Cliff, however, doesn't trust this Swagbucks thing.

"How'd you get it?"

"I shopped in the Swagstore and picked out the T-shirt and I gave them 55 Swagbucks and they sent it to me."

"It didn't cost anything? There's gotta be a catch."

"Well, probably the advertising obtained by sites like Amazon; I don't know."

"There's a catch somewhere. You don't get something for nothing."

Whatever.

Swagbucks (and Whizzo)

I truly do not understand why all people aren't using Swagbucks as their search engine. You can see, above, the list of Freebies I've received so far (click on the picture to make it larger), and all I did to get them was surf the web. I think the deal I got today, the top one on the list, is the best yet. Twenty-five dollars off a meal! We'll probably use it at V's, next time we're in Independence.

I've used some of my swagbucks to download music from Itunes. Hey, I enjoy any sort of freebie, as long as it's something I want!

No, I am not being paid for this post. I'd just like to see everybody get free stuff.

The Oregon guy blogged today about a local TV show he watched as a kid growing up in New Jersey. This took me down memory lane to a magical place called "Whizzoland".

Whizzo came on right at lunchtime, and I'll bet half the kids in Kansas City had lunch with Whizzo. I found a Youtube video of a film made in the 70's, judging by everybody's hair styles: The Whizzo Reunion

Whizzo was still performing somewhere out in the wastelands of Kansas when he died in 1987.

Swagbucks

I first learned about Swagbucks when I checked my Sitemeter and noticed that someone was coming to my blog each day by typing "just me donna" into a Swagbucks search. I mentioned it in a post, that person left a comment, and I decided to try using Swagbucks as my search engine. Once or twice daily, out of the blue, I'll receive some points when I'm doing a search. I've traded points for Paypal bucks and for Amazon.com coupons. I just used a $5 off coupon at Amazon yesterday. I'm not the patient sort, so I don't let my points pile up for long. Right now I have fifty-six, and that may be the most I've ever let accumulate.

If you use search engines quite a bit, and spend the kind of time I do surfing the Internet, there's no reason you can't get these little perks for surfing.

No, I don't get anything for this mention of Swagbucks; it's just that when I find a good thing, I like to share it.
