Sisters

My daughter's girls are thirteen and fifteen years old.  Now I know they love one another, but at those ages, you know how kids are.  It can be a love/hate relationship, and neither is likely to admit to loving the other one.
So when I saw Natalie had posted this on Facebook, I was amazed.  "Natalie loves her sister Monica Lea soooo much."
I indicated that I fainted at reading that message.
Turns out Natalie forgot to log out of her account, so Monica posted as Natalie, using her name.

I thought that was a great trick!

One more thing

That photo contest over at Five Minutes for Mom ends tomorrow. You know, the one in which I entered a picture of my granddaughter, Natalie, with my horse, Blue.

I'm way out in front, but tomorrow is the last day. Some folks may have been wise enough to hold off on voting until the last day. You know, like on Ebay... you don't show your hand until the last few minutes.

So if you haven't voted for my picture, get on over THERE and vote!

It isn't life or death. I (or should I say my husband) can afford to buy a rocking horse for that little girl. But wouldn't it make for a lovely story to pass on down to the next generation, how Internet friends helped me win a rocking horse for my first great-grandchild?

High School Basketball

Cliff and I hadn't been to a high school basketball game since our kids were in high school. They're 39 and 41 years old now, so you can figure out it's been awhile.

This is a small farming community, with some families that have had kids in the local school for four or more generations.

So when it comes time for the "little cheerleaders" to cheer (once a year), grandparents and aunts and uncles come out of the woodwork.

Tonight our granddaughter, Natalie, was cheering, and we decided to attend. Imagine our pleasant surprise when we were told, "Seniors get in free."

I love free!

Trouble is, the side where the home team sits was packed. There were people over there standing.

So Cliff and I went to the other side. That's why you'll mostly see the backsides of our town's "little cheerleaders". We were on the wrong side. My daughter will be able to pick Nattie out of the crowd, I'm sure.

Natalie told us, "You were supposed to be on the other side."

"We know that, Natalie; but we would have had to stand."

I have to tell you, our team absolutely cleaned up. There are some talented boys and girls in this area. And now for the cheer leading.

Cliff has one tractor-driver that's better than I am

There are certain things Cliff would love for me to help him with, but I refuse. Because some things look dangerous, and I don't want to be responsible for maiming or killing him.

Granddaughter Natalie, aged eleven, came over today. So Cliff enlisted her help. He's been training her for quite some time.

The project was this: Grapevines had overtake many of our trees in the pasture and deformed them. So Cliff went out back to take care of that situation.

While he was there, though, he decided a certain tree needed trimming. So he had Natalie elevate him high enough to get rid of some limbs.

Don't try this at home.

Cliff gives Natalie the "higher" sign.

And she raises him up.

That high.

Scares me to death.

Cool morning

Eleven-year-old Granddaughter Natalie spent the afternoon, evening and night with me. We had a session in the hot tub, watched NCIS reruns, Trading Spouses and Supernanny.

We also spent some time in Yoville (on facebook) and toured one another's apartments there, she on one computer and me on the other. A nineteen-year-old guy hit on me in the bar there, asking how old I was. "Old enough to be your grandma," I told him. He found someone else to hit on. Yes, there's a bar in Yoville, and you can get so drunk that everybody looks blurry.

Nattie and I ate popcorn and chilled out until bedtime.

Because I know Natalie likes to sleep with a radio on, I gave her use of my Blackout Buddy. It's still going strong, so I guess a charge lasts a long time.

It's cold this morning, so the hot tub is going to be great. I'm usually in it when the sun is coming up, but today I'm waiting for my granddaughter to wake up, so we can indulge together.

I'm really enjoying all the comments on my previous post. If you have a blog and haven't left a comment there yet, it isn't too late!

granddaughter finds her fun wherever she can

What does Cliff have in the bucket of his John Deere?

It's a person!
It's my granddaughter, Natalie!

OK, he's dragging the gravel driveway to level it out. But wait, there's something on those old box springs....

It's my granddaughter, Natalie!

My nine-year-old granddaughter riding Blue

Natalie is a natural when it comes to horses; she's ridden Blue from time to time for a couple of years. Last autumn, though, Blue found out if he wanted to turn around with Natalie riding, he could pull it off; this caused Natalie to lose confidence.

Now that we have the round pen, I intend to let the girls have more chances to ride Blue; I'm sure Natalie will get her confidence back and be able to give orders to Blue. I never worry about form or proper leads; I just want the girls to be able to safely enjoy a horse. I was cutting the girls' heads off today in videos, for some reason. Oh, you'll hear Monica chattering away in the background telling me how to keep a horse from running away.
