I simply could NOT do it -- the whole thing would drive me crackers . . . but I can still appreciate the system -- and the will-power you exhibit in using it. The awful thing I'm ashamed to admit (but clearly based on childhood events) -- is that money only represents for me what it can purchase. Having money saved has little value in my life. That said for the past years we have been salting money away like mad for retirment -- but we have to do it so we never see the money. Money in an envelop would just be money I would spend. Keep letting us know how this system is working. I forgot what he said it was so will ask again and then verify it with research and my doctor.Lindienoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-36183952.post-57114697872623467882010-11-14T12:23:53.568-06:002010-11-14T12:23:53.568-06:00We still use the debit card, but we have our budge...We still use the debit card, but we have our budget (zero based budget form)with so many dollars allotted for each category for the month. So when we use our debit cards or write a check, we write what it was for in the check register book/keep receipt. (I try to help out by writing grocery 10, pet 15, clothes 20, etc.) underneath the entry. Then every 3 days or so George grabs our check register and updates the totals to show what is left to spend in each category on our budget. That seems to work pretty good. The only money I have is my $60 per month blow money.Bookncoffeehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/12001787449791564669noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-36183952.post-65211092471538753842010-11-14T09:46:58.807-06:002010-11-14T09:46:58.807-06:00Donna I really like your idea of envelope budgetin...Donna I really like your idea of envelope budgeting!!

Come enter my giveaway from Empress of the Eye!
xoxo
Karena

Art by KarenaKarenahttps://www.blogger.com/profile/05206642885608991170noreply@blogger.com
